Exactly how a part-load price is calculated

Part-load pricing rests principally on the volume occupied in cubic metres rather than weight, because truck space is the scarce resource, not payload. A dismantled bedroom occupies roughly four to five cubic metres, a fridge about a metre and a half, a washing machine about one, and ten medium boxes about a cubic metre. We calculate the approximate volume from your photographs and multiply it by the cubic-metre rate for the destination, and that rate rises with distance. This is exactly why dismantling a bedroom before shipping pays for itself: a dismantled room occupies roughly half the volume of an assembled one, and that flows straight through to the price.

When part-load shipping is the wrong choice

We are open about the limits of this service. Part-load shipping does not suit a fixed date that cannot move, because the truck departs when the load is complete rather than on a set day. It does not suit highly delicate or high-value items such as antiques, artwork or a piano, because repeated loading and unloading at intermediate stops raises the risk however good the wrapping. And it does not suit volumes above about eight cubic metres, because the price then approaches a dedicated trip that gives you full control of date and route. In those cases we recommend a full trip openly, even though it costs more.

How we prevent shipments mixing or going astray

The biggest customer concern about shared loads is entirely justified: how do I know my belongings will not be mixed with someone else's or delivered to the wrong address? We address it with three measures. First, coding: every item and every box carries a label with your shipment reference and the destination city, and nothing travels unlabelled. Second, physical separation: each customer's shipment is loaded into a defined zone inside the truck, separated by protective dividers and strapped independently. Third, the photographic inventory: a signed list of items and their photographs held by both you and us, checked line by line at delivery. Together these make mixing or loss close to impossible and make any discrepancy detectable immediately rather than days later.

We handle it end to end: we collect from the showroom against your invoice, inspect the items and record their condition photographically at collection before loading — an important step because it separates factory or showroom defects from any later damage — then wrap, ship and deliver in your city with assembly available. That saves you travelling to collect your purchase or relying on showroom delivery that usually does not extend beyond Jeddah.

Liability and cover in shared loads

Liability in part-load shipping needs more clarity than in a dedicated trip because the truck carries several shipments. We accept responsibility for any damage arising from our loading, restraint or transport, established by comparing the inventory photographs taken before loading with the condition at delivery. We do not accept liability for pre-existing defects recorded in the inventory, nor for the contents of boxes the customer sealed personally and which were never counted. We therefore always recommend that boxes are open at the inventory stage, or that their contents are described on the inventory, so that rights are clear to both sides from the outset.
