Al Raghamah — east Jeddah

Furniture moving in Al Raghamah, Jeddah

Al Raghamah sits on Makkah Road at the eastern edge of Jeddah, next to Al Sulaimaniyah and south of Abruq Ar Raghamah. It is newer housing: standalone villas, recent apartment blocks and plots still under development. If you are relocating here from a compound in the north, taking a company transfer, or simply moving between floors of your own villa, the practical problems are different from a move inside the old city centre. This page explains how we work in Al Raghamah, what it costs in SAR, and what we need from you before quoting.

What the location changes about your moving day

Distance and road access decide the schedule more than the volume does.

Al Raghamah is reached through Makkah Road, which is the eastern gateway into Jeddah. A truck coming from Obhur or the Corniche side crosses most of the city to get here, and in peak hours that crossing alone can cost an hour. For residents arriving from Makkah or from the eastern ring, the drive is short. Either way the fix is the same: start early.

We normally set the crew arrival for around seven in the morning. That is not a preference, it is arithmetic. An hour lost in traffic at the start of the day is an hour added at the end, and an end-of-day overrun in summer heat is where damage and short tempers happen.

  • Share your location pin on WhatsApp before the booking is confirmed — addresses inside new subdivisions are often wrong or missing on maps.
  • Tell us which Makkah Road exit you use; the wrong exit means several kilometres of doubling back for a loaded truck.
  • If you are moving to or from a northern district such as Obhur, expect the journey leg itself to be a real part of the day.

None of this is unusual for east Jeddah. It just has to be planned before the truck is dispatched rather than discovered at eight in the morning.

Housing stock in Al Raghamah and what it means for the crew

Building type drives equipment and crew size more than room count does.

Most of what we move in Al Raghamah is recent: two and three-storey villas, modern apartment buildings, and homes in subdivisions where construction is still going on next door. That is a very different working environment from the narrow stairwells of central Jeddah.

In a modern villa the staircase is usually generous, so the constraint is not width but distance. The route from a second-floor bedroom to the truck can run thirty metres or more, through a hallway, down a stair, across a courtyard and out through a gate. Every metre is time, and every corner is a chance to mark a wall that was painted six months ago.

🏠

Two and three-storey villas

Wide but long internal stairs. We cover the handrail and the corners before anything moves.

🏢

Modern apartment blocks

A lift is usually available, but lift doors rarely take a full wardrobe, so wardrobes come apart first.

🚧

Homes in active subdivisions

Unsurfaced roads and building material at the kerb. Vehicle size is chosen to match, not assumed.

When we quote, we ask how many floors are actually furnished, not how many floors the building has. A three-storey villa using two floors is a very different job from one furnished top to bottom.

Floor-to-floor moves inside the same villa

The service we are asked for most often in this district.

A large share of Al Raghamah enquiries are not house-to-house moves at all. They are internal reorganisations: bringing the master bedroom down to the ground floor for an older parent, converting a majlis into a childrens room, or clearing an entire floor so it can be let separately.

This needs a different method. There is no truck and no route, but there is a space problem — you cannot empty a floor before the receiving floor has been cleared. So we work in stages and reserve one empty room as a temporary holding area while the final positions are prepared.

1

Walk the floors with you

We number the rooms together and agree the order of clearing before anything is touched.

2

Protect the route

Stair treads, handrails, floor edges and door frames are covered; doors are lifted off their hinges where a large piece will not pass.

3

Dismantle in place

Wardrobes and beds come apart in their original rooms, and each set of fittings goes into a labelled bag tied to its own piece.

4

Carry between floors

Four hands minimum on heavy items, lifted and carried — never dragged across a floor.

5

Reassemble and clear up

Every piece is rebuilt in its new position and all wrapping is removed from the house.

Pricing for an internal move is based on piece count and floors rather than distance, and it is normally below the price of an equivalent external move. Send photos of each floor on WhatsApp and the written quote follows.

Access in new subdivisions

Reaching the front door is half the work on the edge of the district.

On the outer plots of Al Raghamah the roads are not always finished. Sand surfaces, missing kerbs, and building materials stacked at the roadside are normal. A large truck can fail to turn in a narrow sand street, or get stuck trying to reverse out of one.

  • We ask in advance whether the street is surfaced and whether there is turning space in front of the house.
  • On difficult streets we use a smaller vehicle and accept more trips rather than risk a large one.
  • If the property is at the end of a closed street, we unload at the nearest firm ground and hand-carry the last stretch.
  • We avoid scheduling on rainy days, because sand streets stop taking loaded vehicles.

These sound like small details. They are the single most common reason a move in a new district runs late, and they are cheap to settle with one question before the date is fixed.

Prices in SAR

The same published Wththab price list that applies across Jeddah.

Al Raghamah is priced on our standard Jeddah list. The only variable that can move it is the second address: a delivery to a far northern district such as North Obhur adds a journey leg, and that is stated in the quote rather than added afterwards.

Move sizeEstimated price (SAR)What it covers
Pickup / single items80 – 250One or two pieces inside Jeddah, loading and unloading
Studio or single room350 – 600Dismantling, packing, loading, transport, reassembly
Two-bedroom flat500 – 900Full crew with a closed truck
Three-bedroom flat800 – 1,400Larger crew and extended packing
Four to five bedrooms1,200 – 1,900Sometimes two days depending on floors
Small villa1,500 – 2,500More than one truck and an extended crew
Large villa2,500 – 4,000Scheduled over two days with full packing

Prices are estimates and are fixed after a free survey. The agreed figure is written down before work starts and does not change afterwards.

Dismantling and assembly booked on its own — a bedroom set, a sliding wardrobe, an aluminium kitchen — is priced separately and is set out on the disassembly and assembly prices page.

Packing newly furnished homes

New furniture marks far more easily than old furniture.

Homes in Al Raghamah are often recently furnished, which means gloss table tops, glass-fronted wardrobes and pale upholstery. These surfaces do not forgive what older furniture forgives, and a scratch on a high-gloss finish is permanent.

🛋️

Pale upholstery

Clear film first, then a fabric layer — dust alone is enough to spoil a light sofa in transit.

🪞

Glass and mirrors

Foam on every edge, then double-wall card, and never carried flat.

✨

High-gloss surfaces

Soft foam before any tape goes near the piece, because tape on the finish itself leaves a mark.

Materials and what they cost are listed on the packing materials page, and the method itself on the furniture packing service page.

Heavy pieces and when external lifting is needed

Rarely in this district, but worth settling at survey stage.

Because villa stairs here are comparatively wide, external lifting is rarely required in Al Raghamah — unlike older apartment buildings elsewhere in the city. There are exceptions: a single-slab marble dining top, a steel safe, a piano.

  • If a piece is still wider than the stair after dismantling, external lifting is both cheaper and safer than forcing it.
  • Balconies on modern villas will usually take a hoisted load, but we check the bearing point before anything is lifted.
  • The decision is made at survey, not on moving day, because a hoist has to be booked ahead.

Details are on the furniture hoisting page, and heavy-item handling on the piano and heavy items page.

Four mistakes we keep seeing in this district

All four cost money and none of them need to happen.

1

Booking a midday start

Midday heat slows a crew and lengthens the job. An early start finishes before the worst of it.

2

Not clearing the receiving property

Furniture arriving at a home still full of the previous contents means a paid crew standing still.

3

Leaving appliances connected

A fridge needs to be disconnected hours ahead so the refrigerant settles — see the fridge moving guide.

4

Moving everything unsorted

Villa storerooms fill with things nobody uses. Sorting before the move cuts both the load and the price.

For a full pre-move checklist see the moving checklist, and for whole-villa relocations the villa moving page covers crew and equipment in detail.

Frequently asked questions

Al Raghamah lies in eastern Jeddah along Makkah Road, bordered by Al Sulaimaniyah to the west and Abruq Ar Raghamah to the north. It is one of the eastern districts that has expanded considerably in recent years.

Between SAR 500 and SAR 900, covering dismantling, packing, loading, transport and reassembly. The figure is confirmed in writing after a free survey or after photos are sent on WhatsApp.

Yes, and in this district it is one of our most requested jobs. We work in stages with a temporary holding room, and price by piece count and floors rather than distance.

Yes, but we ask about the street surface before confirming the date. On narrow sand streets we use a smaller vehicle and make more trips rather than risk a large one.

Early morning, around seven. The district sits on the eastern entrance to the city and peak traffic on Makkah Road can add a full hour to the trucks arrival.

Usually not, because villa stairs in Al Raghamah are wide. A hoist is used only for pieces that will not pass even after dismantling, such as single-slab marble tops, steel safes or pianos.

Yes. Kitchen dismantling and reinstallation is a separate service, normally SAR 200 to SAR 400 depending on the number of units.

Yes. Monthly storage starts at SAR 150 for a room or two, and runs to SAR 400 to SAR 800 for a villa, with transport to and from the warehouse included as a quoted item.

A small villa is usually completed in one day with an early start. A large villa can run to two days, particularly when all three floors are furnished.

The survey is free. The written quote issued before work starts is the final figure unless the volume changes or a service is added that was not in the agreement.
