Furniture Moving in Al Mulaysa District, Jeddah

What a move in Al Mulaysa actually costs
A two-bedroom apartment move inside Al Mulaysa, or from Al Mulaysa to a neighbouring district, runs SAR 500 to 900. Three bedrooms run SAR 800 to 1,400, and a small villa SAR 1,500 to 2,500. A single appliance or one piece of furniture does not need a truck at all — a pickup run costs SAR 80 to 250. Every one of those figures is confirmed in writing after a free survey, and it does not change once the truck is loaded.
Al Mulaysa sits in the southern belt of Jeddah, in the same cluster as Al Ajawid, Al Huda and Al Sanabel. It grew as planned residential subdivisions rather than old dense blocks, so the streets are wider and parking is easier than anywhere in the centre. For a mover that changes three things: the truck usually reaches the door, the long carry disappears, and the clock stops running on things that have nothing to do with your furniture.
Who moves here, and why that matters
The practical profile of Al Mulaysa shapes how we plan the day.
Two groups make up most of what we move in this district. The first is families upgrading from a rented flat in a denser part of the city to something larger in the south, where the same budget buys more floor area. The second is residents moving into a newly built unit on a plot that was empty a year ago — which is a very different job, and the next section is about it.
For expatriate residents specifically, two questions come up more than any other: can the move be split across two days, and can it be done on a Friday. Both answers are yes. Splitting the load across two days costs no more when the distance is short, and Friday work is standard for us because it is the one day most families are free.
If your move crosses the whole city rather than staying in the south, read moving inside Jeddah and our south Jeddah service for how the distance changes the day.
Price table
The same published rates apply across every district in Jeddah.
| Size of the move | Price in SAR |
|---|---|
| Pickup / single items | 80 – 250 |
| Studio or one room | 350 – 600 |
| Two-bedroom apartment | 500 – 900 |
| Three-bedroom apartment | 800 – 1,400 |
| Four to five bedrooms | 1,200 – 1,900 |
| Small villa | 1,500 – 2,500 |
| Large villa | 2,500 – 4,000 |
Prices cover labour, the truck, loading and unloading. Disassembly, packing materials and storage are separate line items with their own published rates.
What moves a job within its band is the floor, whether there is a lift, and how many pieces need a carpenter. The district itself never changes the price. See the cost calculator for a quick estimate before you call.
Moving into a unit that is still being finished
Common in a district built on new plots, and the single biggest source of avoidable damage.
Furniture after the paint, never before
Paint lands on fabric and timber and does not come out. If the last coat is not fully dry, delay by a day or put the load into short-term storage. It is cheaper than the cleaning bill that will not work anyway.
Check power and drainage before the white goods
A fridge needs a sound earthed socket; a washing machine needs a drain and a valve. Bring both in last, after you have tested the services, not in the first load.
Keep one finished room
If part of the house is still a workshop, pick one room that locks, put only sealed boxes in it, and leave the large furniture wrapped until the trades are done.
Curtains and light fittings come last
Hanging curtains before the gypsum work is finished means taking them down again. Keep them off the moving-day list entirely.
Measure before the day, not during it
Door width, ceiling height, stair width. Two minutes with a tape measure prevents the wardrobe that will not fit and the two hours of unplanned dismantling that follows.
Pickup runs and single items
Not every job in this district is a whole household.
When a pickup is enough
A washing machine, a fridge, an air conditioner, one sofa, a dining table. Anything two people can carry and strap down. SAR 80 to 250 depending on weight and distance.
When you need a dina truck
One to two rooms of furniture, or anything that scratches and needs a covered body. One trip instead of three car journeys.
When you need the closed truck
A full apartment, any move during dust or rain season, or a long run out of the southern districts. A closed body keeps sun and dust off painted timber.
Single heavy items
A safe, a piano, a marble top. These need lifting gear and extra hands, and we quote them after seeing a photograph rather than guessing.
The trade-off between the two truck types is set out in dina versus closed truck.
Disassembly and reassembly
Carried out by carpenters, not by loaders holding a screwdriver.
| Job | Price in SAR |
|---|---|
| Full bedroom set | 150 – 300 |
| Sliding or IKEA wardrobe | 100 – 250 |
| Aluminium kitchen | 200 – 400 |
| Whole-apartment package | 400 – 900 |
The quoted disassembly price includes reassembly at the new address. You are never charged twice for the same piece.
Sliding wardrobes and flat-pack units dominate in recently furnished southern apartments. Every piece is photographed before it comes apart and its screws go into a labelled bag. See bedroom disassembly and flat-pack assembly.
Packing: what genuinely needs it
Wrapping everything wastes money; wrapping nothing wastes furniture.
- Glass, mirrors and glass table tops: foam on the edges first, then stiff cardboard. Always carried upright.
- Electronics: original cartons if you still have them, otherwise a thick blanket with tape on the blanket, never on the screen.
- Sofas and mattresses: full plastic bags, which matter more here than in the north because of dust.
- Wardrobe doors and drawers: tape around the edge only, never across painted surfaces.
- Books and tools: small cartons only. A large carton of books tears out of its own base.
- Clothes: leave them hanging if the wardrobe travels assembled; bag them if it comes apart.
Short-term storage
For the gap between handing one place back and getting into the next.
| Volume stored | Monthly rate in SAR |
|---|---|
| One to two rooms | 150 – 300 |
| Apartment contents | 250 – 450 |
| Villa contents | 400 – 800 |
Billed monthly. Access in and out is arranged in advance at no extra charge.
The most common case we see in Al Mulaysa: the rented flat has been handed back and the new house needs three or four more weeks. A month of storage costs far less than a month of extra rent. See short-term storage.
Timing the day in southern Jeddah
Heat and traffic change the length of a move more than people expect.
In the hot months our crews start in Al Mulaysa at seven in the morning and aim to finish loading before eleven. Working through midday slows people down and multiplies mistakes on heavy pieces, and painted timber should not sit in an open body under direct sun for hours — heat works on glue and veneer.
The alternative is an afternoon start running to sunset. That suits small loads and single items but not a full household, because the light runs out and stair lighting in newly finished buildings is not always working yet.
Traffic on the southern corridors peaks with the school run in the morning and again in the evening. If you are moving from Al Mulaysa to a northern district we start early for exactly that reason. See the best time to move for the full comparison.
Al Mulaysa moving questions
What residents of the district ask us most often.
SAR 500 to 900. The exact figure is set after a free survey and depends on the floor, whether there is a lift, and how many pieces need dismantling.
In most streets yes, because the subdivisions here were planned with wider roads. Where there is construction work we use a smaller dina and run the job in two trips.
No. That is a pickup run at SAR 80 to 250 depending on floor and distance.
Not before the paint has dried. If you have no choice we bring in sealed boxes only and keep the large furniture in short-term storage until the work is done.
Yes. Friday is one of our busiest days precisely because most families are free then.
No. The published table is the same across Jeddah. Size, floor and distance move the price, never the district name.
Yes. See moving outside Jeddah for destinations and how intercity jobs are priced.
Two to three days normally, a week for month-end and the start of school holidays, which are the peak across the whole city.
Yes, where the damage comes from our handling. The terms are on our guarantee page.
Yes, and with no obligation. We can do it in person or over a WhatsApp video call, and the written price that follows does not change.
