Van Moving Services in Al Murjan, Jeddah
A van (dyna) is the cheapest way to shift a few pieces around Al Murjan, starting at SAR 80 for single items. It is the wrong tool for a full flat. This page tells you which one you have, what the tower will ask of you, and what the written price covers.
Three situations that actually call for a van here
Al Murjan is a newer waterfront district, and the moves people book in it fall into a small number of shapes.
The first is the compound-to-compound hop. Residents move between buildings in Al Murjan, or across to Al Zomorod, Al Loloa and Al Yaqoot, and carry a bed, a desk, two armchairs and a few boxes. Nothing about that job needs a five-man crew or a closed truck, and paying for one is money thrown away.
The second is topping up a furnished rental. A lease comes with the basics, the tenant buys a wardrobe, a dining set or a mattress, and needs it collected and carried up. A van plus two men does this in a morning.
The third is the opposite direction: clearing items out at the end of a stay, usually a few large pieces going to a friend, a buyer or storage, while the rest of the flat stays put. Again a van, not a truck.
If your move is none of these three and you are emptying a whole apartment, read the price table further down before you book anything, because the van will cost you more in trips than a closed vehicle costs once.
Booking before you arrive, or from outside Saudi Arabia
A large share of enquiries in this district come from people who are not in Jeddah yet. That is workable, but only with the right information up front.
We quote from photographs. Send pictures of every piece to be moved, one of the building entrance, and one of the corridor outside the unit door. Add the floor number and the building name. From that we can tell you, in writing, whether a van is enough and what it will cost, before you land.
What we cannot do from photographs is guess the building rules. If you are not in Jeddah, give us the name of the property manager or the building reception and we will contact them directly about the loading bay and the service lift. This is routine and costs nothing.
- Photographs of each item, the entrance and the corridor
- Building name, unit number and floor
- A date range rather than a single fixed day if your flight is not confirmed
- The name or number of the building management, if you have it
- Whether anyone will be present, or whether we collect keys
Payment is never requested before a survey or before the work is agreed in writing. If any mover asks you to transfer a deposit on the strength of a WhatsApp message alone, that is a reason to stop, not a reason to hurry.
Tower access: gate passes, loading bays and service lifts
In Al Murjan this is the single thing most likely to cost you an hour.
Many Al Murjan units sit inside managed towers and gated compounds. A goods van is not treated like a visitor car. Most buildings want the driver name and plate number in advance, assign a specific service lift, and restrict loading to set hours.
We ask for the building details at the quoting stage for exactly this reason. Arranging a gate pass the day before is free. Discovering at 8am that the service lift is booked for another tenant costs an hour of crew time, and with most companies that hour appears on your bill.
Villas inside Al Murjan are simpler. There is a private entrance and room to turn, the van parks at the door, and dead time is close to zero. If you are in a villa, expect the job to run faster than the quote assumes.
What a van can take, and what it cannot
An honest table, not an upsell.
| What you are moving | Van enough? | Better option |
|---|---|---|
| One or two pieces inside the district | Yes | — |
| A bedroom set, no electronics | Yes, wrapped | Closed vehicle if it includes mirrors |
| A fully furnished studio | Usually not | Small closed truck |
| Two-bedroom flat or larger | No | Closed truck and full crew |
| Villa or whole floor | No | Multiple vehicles, often two days |
| Large appliances only | Yes, strapped upright | Straps and upright fixing are mandatory |
These are the patterns we see most often in this district. The free survey, not this table, decides your job.
The reason the line falls where it does is simple: a van has an open bed and no walls. Everything that stops a load moving is a strap or a cover, and beyond a certain volume straps stop being enough.
Prices in SAR, and what actually changes them
The same rates apply across Jeddah. There is no Al Murjan surcharge.
| Move size | Estimated price (SAR) | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Pickup / single items | 80 – 250 | One or two pieces inside Jeddah, loading and unloading |
| Studio or single room | 350 – 600 | Dismantling, packing, loading, transport, reassembly |
| Two-bedroom flat | 500 – 900 | Full crew with a closed truck |
| Three-bedroom flat | 800 – 1,400 | Larger crew and extended packing |
| Four to five bedrooms | 1,200 – 1,900 | Sometimes two days depending on floors |
| Small villa | 1,500 – 2,500 | More than one truck and an extended crew |
| Large villa | 2,500 – 4,000 | Scheduled over two days with full packing |
Prices are estimates and are fixed after a free survey. The agreed figure is written down before work starts and does not change afterwards.
A van move sits in the first row of that table. What moves your price inside Al Murjan is not the postcode but two measurable things: a high floor with no usable service lift, and a long carry from the unit door to where the van is allowed to stand. Both are measured at the survey and written into the quote.
Dismantling and reassembly is quoted as its own line: SAR 150 to 300 for a bedroom, SAR 100 to 250 for a sliding or flat-pack wardrobe, SAR 200 to 400 for an aluminium kitchen. The survey is free and carries no obligation.
Sea wind and salt air on an open bed
A consideration that genuinely does not apply in inland districts.
Al Murjan sits close to the waterfront, and the roads running north carry noticeably more wind than streets further inland. An open van bed is exposed to both the wind and humid, salt-laden air for the whole trip.
Our default is a tarpaulin pulled tight over the entire load and anchored on four sides rather than two, with stretch wrap over painted wood and metal. Salt does nothing measurable on a short run. Wind does damage immediately if a cover is loose at one corner.
Some things never travel uncovered here regardless: mattresses, hanging clothes, framed pictures, screens and anything electronic. Those go in a closed vehicle even when the rest of the load is on the van, and the quote shows both lines.
End-of-contract moves: timing the van around your inspection
If you are handing a unit back, the order of events matters more than the price.
Landlords and building managers in this part of Jeddah usually inspect after the unit is empty and before keys are returned. That means the van has to come out before the inspection, not after, and any wall damage from removing brackets, mirrors or TV mounts has to be made good in between.
We schedule these jobs in the morning deliberately, so there is daylight left for patching and for a second trip if something was missed. Booking an end-of-contract clear-out for late afternoon is the most common planning mistake we see.
If you need items held for a few weeks between the handover and your next address, say so at the quoting stage. Storage is priced monthly and billed separately, and knowing in advance changes how we pack: items going to storage get wrapped differently from items going straight into a new flat.
How an open bed is loaded so nothing shifts
The method is different from a closed truck, because the walls are not there to help.
Weight first,Heavy flat items on the floor of the bed, pushed against the cab so braking cannot drive them forward
undefined
Separation,Blankets or compressed card between every two wooden surfaces to stop rubbing in transit
undefined
Strapping,Two cross straps minimum, plus one strap over the tarpaulin itself
undefined
Appliances,Fridges upright and tied; washing machines secured at the drum where the model allows it
undefined
Almost every damaged item we are shown after a cheap van move failed the same way: one strap short, not one kilometre too fast. The cost of the extra strap is nothing; the cost of a cracked wardrobe door is a replacement.
Timing your move around the Corniche
Choosing the hour saves more than haggling over the rate.
Al Murjan is served by the coastal road and the routes running north towards South Obhur. These fill up in the evenings and at weekends, and events on the waterfront can close parking near the buildings entirely.
Early weekday mornings are the best window, for parking as much as for traffic: the space nearest the entrance disappears as the day goes on, and a van that has to park a hundred metres away turns a short carry into a long one.
- Early weekday morning: best for both parking and traffic
- Mid-afternoon: workable for short hops inside the district
- Evenings and weekends: coastal congestion and no parking
- Waterfront event days: start very early or move the booking
Related services you may need alongside the van
A van is one line of a move. These pages cover the others in full.
If your job turns out to be bigger than a few pieces, start from furniture moving in Al Murjan, which covers full apartment and villa moves in this district rather than single-item runs. For the complete rate card across every move size, see house moving prices in Jeddah.
The line most often forgotten at booking is dismantling and reassembly. Bedrooms, sliding wardrobes and kitchens each have their own method and their own price, and bedroom dismantling and assembly sets out how that work is quoted. If your unit is on a high floor and the lift cannot be used for loading, moving without a lift explains how the carry is measured and why it affects the figure.
For a direct comparison with another Jeddah district where van moves follow the same pattern, see van moving services in Al Rayyan. And if part of your furniture needs to sit somewhere between two leases, furniture storage in Jeddah lists the monthly rates and the collection terms.
All of these are booked on the same number and appear on one written quote, so you are not chasing separate suppliers or assembling a price yourself.
Frequently asked questions
SAR 80 to 250 for single items anywhere in Jeddah. There is no district surcharge. The final figure is written down after a free survey.
No. A two-bedroom flat needs a closed vehicle and a full crew, estimated at SAR 500 to 900.
It reaches the loading bay or the nearest point the building permits. Most towers want the driver name and plate in advance, and we arrange that with management before the day.
Yes. Send photographs of the items, the entrance and the corridor, plus the building name and floor, and you will get a written quote before you arrive.
Mattresses, mirrors, chandeliers, framed art, screens and electronics. These travel in a closed vehicle even when the rest of the load does not.
Making good small fixing holes is quoted as a separate line. Tell us at the survey if an inspection is coming, so it is scheduled before the handover rather than after.
Early on a weekday. Parking near the entrance is the limiting factor, and it disappears as the day goes on.
Yes, and it carries no obligation. You get a written, itemised price and you are free to walk away from it.
Yes, priced monthly. Say so when you ask for the quote, because items bound for storage are wrapped differently.
Any difference is written down and agreed with you before work continues. Nothing is added to the bill after the fact.
