WATHAB Jeddah — Moving & Storage

School and Nursery Movers in Jeddah

Schools move in the gap between terms, and the gap does not move. Wathab relocates schools and nurseries in Jeddah classroom by classroom, with labelled sets, child-safe reassembly and a handover that leaves rooms ready to teach in.

A school move has one fixed date

Everything is planned backwards from the first day of term.

Almost every other commercial move has some give in it. A school move does not. Pupils arrive on a published date whether or not the furniture did, and a classroom that is half built on that morning is a visible failure in front of every parent.

So the planning runs backwards. The first day of term is fixed; before it sits a buffer for snags; before that, reassembly; before that, transport; before that, packing; and the packing start date falls out of the arithmetic. If the arithmetic does not work, the honest answer is to move fewer rooms properly rather than all of them badly, and we will say so at survey.

The second structural fact is that schools are not one space but many near-identical ones. Thirty classrooms that look alike are the single biggest source of error on this kind of move, because a carton that loses its room number becomes almost impossible to place by inspection.

Room sets, not cartons

The labelling system that makes a school move work.

We move schools as room sets. Everything belonging to a room — furniture, resources, displays, teacher materials — carries that room’s identifier, and the set is kept together from strip to rebuild. Cartons are numbered within the set, so a room is complete or visibly incomplete, never ambiguously so.

01

Room identifier agreed with you

We use the school’s own room naming, not ours. Crews follow the signage the staff already use, which removes a whole class of placement error.

02

Set numbering

Each room’s cartons are numbered within the set, so a missing item is visible as a gap in a sequence rather than discovered weeks later.

03

Teacher boxes kept separate

Personal and planning materials are boxed separately and delivered to the teacher, not mixed into general classroom stock.

04

Displays photographed before stripping

Wall displays and learning walls are photographed so they can be rebuilt rather than reinvented, where you want them restored.

05

Shared resources treated as their own room

Library stock, science equipment, PE and art materials are handled as sets in their own right, because they belong to no single classroom.

The labelling is agreed before packing begins. It takes an hour at survey and saves days at the far end.

Nurseries and early years

Where the requirements genuinely differ.

A nursery is not a small school. The furniture is lighter but the constraints are tighter, because almost everything in the room is designed to be used by a child who will test it.

Our rule in early years rooms is that nothing goes back loosely. Anything that was wall-fixed is re-fixed, not leaned. Anything with a stability bracket is reinstalled with its bracket, not without. Furniture with detachable small parts is reassembled complete or flagged as incomplete in writing — never handed over with a missing fitting and a verbal note.

  • Wall-fixed shelving and storage are re-anchored at the new address, not stood free against a wall.
  • Anti-tip brackets supplied with a unit are refitted; if a bracket is missing we record it rather than skipping it.
  • Soft play and mats are transported covered and relaid clean, not stacked against dusty equipment.
  • Cots, changing units and low furniture are reassembled with their original fixings, bagged to the unit.
  • Anything we cannot reassemble completely is listed in writing at handover, with the reason and the missing part named.

If the nursery is licensed with a required layout, give us the layout at survey. Rebuilding to the approved arrangement is far easier than rearranging afterwards.

Labs, libraries and specialist rooms

The rooms that need their own plan.

RoomMain constraintHow it is handled
Science labBenching is fixed; chemicals are not ours to moveLoose equipment and furniture only; fixed benching and any chemical stock stay with your technician
LibraryOrder is the whole valueShelves emptied in shelf order into numbered cartons, relaid in the same order
ICT roomCabling and device countsDevices boxed and counted against your asset list; cabling labelled at both ends
Art roomBulk materials and heavy sinksMaterials boxed by type; fixed sinks and benching stay
PE storeAwkward, heavy, unstackableMoved as its own set, last out and last in
Admin and recordsCustodySealed, numbered, signed for, and never left unattended

Anything fixed, plumbed or wired — benching, sinks, interactive boards hard-mounted to a wall — is removed and refitted by your own contractor. We move and position.

Dismantling and reassembly is quoted separately: 150 – 300 SAR for a bedroom-sized unit, 100 – 250 SAR for a sliding or flat-pack wardrobe, 200 – 400 SAR for an aluminium kitchen and 400 – 900 SAR for a full apartment package. Larger schools are quoted as a set of room bands rather than a single number, so you can see what each wing costs and decide what moves in which phase. The survey is free and the full price is written down before work begins. See also our cost calculator.

Phasing a large school move

Which rooms go first, and why.

1

Storage and shared resources

PE, art and library stock move first, because they are bulky and because nobody is teaching in them during the strip.

2

Specialist rooms

Labs, ICT and music follow, so their fit-out problems surface while there is still time to solve them.

3

General classrooms

Moved in blocks, each as a complete set, with a block finished before the next one starts.

4

Admin and records

Moved as a sealed numbered series, scheduled so the office is never without its records during a working day.

5

Snagging buffer

Deliberate empty days before term starts, used for the things that always appear and never for catching up.

Phasing costs slightly more than a single push, because the vehicle and crew return. What it buys is the buffer, and on a school move the buffer is the product.

Handover: a room ready to teach in

What we check before leaving.

  • Every room set complete, with its carton sequence ticked off against the list your staff hold.
  • Furniture reassembled and standing, with wall-fixed items re-anchored rather than leaned.
  • Anti-tip brackets and safety fittings refitted, or their absence recorded in writing.
  • Displays rebuilt from the photographs where restoration was agreed.
  • Library and resource stock relaid in its original order.
  • Packing waste removed from classrooms and corridors, not stacked at the end of a hall.

Anything outstanding is written down and handed to the site lead before the crew leaves, naming the room and the item. Related services: corporate relocation, professional packing, dismantling and assembly and storage over a term break.

What we need before quoting

Six answers that fix the price and the plan.

  • Room count by type: general classrooms, early years rooms, specialist rooms, offices and stores.
  • The immovable date — first day of term — and the date the building is actually available.
  • Floor levels and lift access at both sites, and whether corridors take a trolley.
  • Which items are fixed and will be handled by your own contractor.
  • Whether displays are to be restored or discarded.
  • Whether anything needs storing between the two dates.

With those answers we can tell you honestly whether the gap is long enough, and if it is not, which phasing gets the school open on time. If the new site is outside the city, see moving outside Jeddah.

School and nursery relocation in Jeddah — frequently asked questions

What school leaders and nursery owners in Jeddah ask us before booking.

In the gap between terms, with the plan built backwards from the first teaching day rather than forwards from the packing day. If the gap is too short for everything, it is better to move fewer rooms properly and phase the rest.

We move schools as room sets using your own room names, with cartons numbered within each set. A room is then either complete or visibly incomplete — a missing item shows as a gap in a sequence rather than surfacing weeks later.

Yes. Anything that was wall-fixed is re-fixed, and anti-tip brackets supplied with a unit are refitted. If a bracket is missing we record it in writing rather than handing the unit over free-standing.

We move the loose equipment and furniture. Fixed benching, sinks and any chemical stock stay with your own technician and contractor — that is a licensing matter rather than a moving one, and we plan the day around their work.

Our standard scale applies per room band: 350 – 600 SAR for a single classroom, 500 – 900 SAR for two rooms, 800 – 1,400 SAR for three, 1,200 – 1,900 SAR for four to five, and 2,500 – 4,000 SAR for a large school building. Larger schools are quoted wing by wing so you can phase.

Yes. Storage is 150 – 300 SAR a month for a one to two room load, 250 – 450 SAR for an apartment-sized load and 400 – 800 SAR for a villa-sized load. It is often the simplest way to empty a site before a refurbishment finishes.

Where you ask us to. Displays and learning walls are photographed before stripping so they can be rebuilt rather than reinvented. If you would rather start fresh, say so and we will simply remove them.

The site lead you nominate. They receive the room-set lists, tick off each sequence, and get a written note of anything outstanding, naming the room and the item, before the crew leaves.
