Moving from Jeddah to Al Lith
A coastal run south with one crew: dismantling in Jeddah, assembly in Al Lith, humidity-aware packing and a written price before departure.
Al Lith and the coastal route south
The nature of the road sets the method.
Al Lith is a coastal governorate in the Makkah region, south of Jeddah on the Red Sea coast, reached by the coastal road running south. The route is broadly flat and coastal rather than mountainous, and that is a fundamental difference from inland destinations.
A flat road means less vibration and less tilt, so lower risk to wooden joints. In exchange it means high humidity for the whole journey, and humidity is a completely different enemy from vibration.
So we reorder the packing priorities for Al Lith jobs: protection from moisture comes ahead of protection from impact, which is the reverse of what we do on mountain routes.
- Coastal governorate in the Makkah region, south of Jeddah
- A broadly flat coastal route rather than a mountain road
- Less vibration, more humidity
- Moisture protection takes priority in packing here
Coastal humidity: what it damages and how we stop it
The most important section on any move along the coast.
Humidity breaks nothing immediately, which is exactly why it is underestimated. What it does is worse: it works into engineered wood so the edges swell, it marks leather surfaces, and it forms condensation inside sealed appliances moved cold and opened in hot air.
So on coastal moves we do not use sealed plastic wrap on wood. Sealed wrap traps moisture inside rather than keeping it out, turning itself into a small steam chamber around the piece. We use cotton blankets instead, which absorb moisture and allow ventilation, and reserve plastic for soft furnishings.
Appliances are left at least an hour after arrival before being switched on, so their temperature equalises and any condensation evaporates. Plugging in a fridge or screen straight off a hot, humid truck is the most common and most expensive mistake on this route.
No sealed plastic on wood
Sealed wrap traps moisture instead of excluding it.
Cotton blankets
They absorb moisture and let the piece breathe.
Plastic for soft goods
Reserved for mattresses and upholstery against dust.
One hour before power
Appliances equalise before being switched on.
Small loads: there and back in one day
An option that longer destinations do not offer.
Because Al Lith is closer than many destinations we serve, small loads can usually be executed as a same-day return trip with no overnight stay. That genuinely lowers the cost, because the crew's time does not extend into a second day.
The practical conditions are that the load sits within the small-van, studio or two-bedroom band, that disassembly and assembly are limited, and that the crew departs early. A three-bedroom apartment or a villa needs a different arrangement.
We say this before booking rather than after. If your load is large, we will not promise a one-day trip simply to close the deal. An unrealistic promise ends in rushed assembly in the evening, which is the worst outcome for new furniture.
Early departure
A basic condition for finishing in a single day.
Limited volume
Up to the two-bedroom band with limited disassembly.
No overpromising
Larger loads get a different plan, and we say so upfront.

| Three-bedroom apartment | SAR 800 – 1,400 | Larger crew, longer loading window |
| Four to five bedrooms | SAR 1,200 – 1,900 | Usually a full working day |

These bands are the basis. The final intercity quote follows the free survey and reflects volume, the number of trucks, and whether the job runs over one day or two.

Loading order for a coastal run
Different from a mountain route.
On a flat road we can use more of the box height than we would on a mountain route, because the tilt risk is lower. The heavy-items-low rule still applies, though, because it protects against hard braking and not only against bends.
We place soft furnishings and mattresses as a separating layer between rigid layers, where they act as natural cushioning and supply extra protective material. Long items such as wardrobe panels are rested lengthwise against the side wall rather than across it.
And what is loaded last is unloaded first: we keep near the door the things you will need as soon as you arrive. That small ordering decision saves half an hour of searching at the other end.
- Heavy items low, as protection against hard braking
- Soft furnishings as a cushioning layer between rigid layers
- Long panels rested lengthwise against the side wall
- First-needed items loaded last, nearest the door

Entrance measurements
Door and stair widths where large pieces are involved.

The reverse direction: Al Lith to Jeddah
A frequent request with a different sequence.
We run the route both ways. The difference is that a move from Jeddah starts with a free site survey, while a move from Al Lith to Jeddah is usually priced from photographs and a precise description over WhatsApp, with the quote confirmed in writing before the crew sets off.
For anyone moving into Jeddah there is one practical point that is often forgotten: arrange parking for the truck in Jeddah before the crew arrives, and check the lift in the new building. Arriving after a full journey to a street with no space and a broken lift turns a successful move into a needlessly long day.
