WATHAB Jeddah — Moving & Storage

Gym and Fitness Equipment Movers in Jeddah

Weight stacks, treadmills, racks and rubber flooring are heavy, awkward and unforgiving of a wrong lift. Wathab moves gyms and home fitness rooms in Jeddah with the right crew size, the right dismantling order and floors that survive the job.

Fitness equipment breaks differently

Weight is not the problem; concentration of weight is.

A three-seat sofa and a loaded weight stack can weigh something similar. They behave nothing alike. The sofa spreads its mass over a wide footprint and bends a little; the weight stack puts everything through four small feet and bends nothing. That difference is why gym equipment damages buildings more often than it damages itself.

The three recurring failures on a gym move are all building failures rather than equipment failures: a tiled floor cracked by a point load, a lift overloaded by a single machine, and a doorway frame gouged by a rack that was carried instead of dismantled. All three are preventable at survey, and none of them are preventable on the day.

So a gym survey measures the route, not just the equipment. Floor construction, lift capacity, door widths and the turning radius of a stairwell are what we actually need to know.

What comes apart and what does not

The dismantling order for a fitness room.

1

Weights off first

Plates, dumbbells and loose weight are removed and boxed in small, carryable quantities before any frame moves. A machine is moved empty, always.

2

Cables released, not cut

Cable machines have their cables released at the anchor and coiled, with the routing photographed first so the same run can be restored.

3

Uprights and rigs down

Racks, rigs and cages are unbolted into uprights and crossmembers. The bolts stay with the member they came out of, bagged and labelled.

4

Consoles and electronics separated

Treadmill and bike consoles are detached where the design allows, wrapped separately, and numbered to their base.

5

Flooring lifted last

Rubber tiles and mats come up after the equipment is out, rolled or stacked flat, and kept in laying order.

Treadmills with a folding deck travel folded and locked. Treadmills without one travel flat, deck supported along its length — never leaned on a corner, which is how a deck frame is bent.

The lift problem

Why a single machine can stop a move.

Most residential and commercial lifts in Jeddah are rated for passenger loads distributed across the car floor. A single commercial machine can approach or exceed that rating while sitting on a fraction of the floor area. Putting it in anyway is a genuinely bad idea, and the building manager is usually right to refuse.

01

Check the plate, not the size

The rated load is on the lift’s plate. A large car is not necessarily a strong one, and the number is what matters.

02

Internal height matters as much as weight

A rig upright or a folded treadmill often fails on diagonal height inside the car, not on weight.

03

Stairs with the right crew size

Where the lift is out, equipment goes down the stairs dismantled and in pieces sized for the number of people available, with landings protected.

04

External hoisting

For heavy single pieces on upper floors, an external hoist through a balcony is frequently faster and safer than any staircase option.

05

Ask the building first

Many buildings require written notice before heavy goods move through a lift or a stairwell. We ask at survey so it is arranged, not argued.

Protecting floors at both ends

The damage nobody budgets for.

The most expensive line on a badly run gym move is usually repair to someone else’s floor. Marble, porcelain tile and timber all fail under point loads, and the damage happens during the twenty seconds a machine is pivoted on one foot, not during the carry.

Our standard practice is to lay protection along the whole route before anything moves, not just in the room. Machines are lifted rather than walked, and where walking a heavy frame is unavoidable it goes on boards rather than directly on the finish.

SurfaceRiskWhat we do
Marble and porcelain tileCracking under a point loadBoards laid along the full route; machines lifted, not pivoted
Timber and laminateDenting and scoringProtective sheet plus boards at every pivot point
Epoxy and painted concreteScuffing and scoringBoards at turns; no dragging at any stage
Existing rubber gym flooringTearing at seamsTiles lifted in laying order before the heavy items move over them

Protection is included in the quoted price. We do not treat it as an optional extra, because the alternative is a repair bill nobody planned for.

Gym moving prices in Jeddah

Official Wathab pricing, in Saudi riyals.

ScopePrice (SAR)
Dabab run — one or two machines80 – 250
Home gym, single room350 – 600
Two-room fitness area500 – 900
Small studio, three-room equivalent800 – 1,400
Mid-size gym, four to five room equivalent1,200 – 1,900
Large studio, small-villa equivalent1,500 – 2,500
Full commercial gym, large-villa equivalent2,500 – 4,000

Dismantling and reassembly of rigs, racks and machines is quoted separately, on the same scale as our other assembly work: 150 – 300 SAR for a bedroom-sized unit, 100 – 250 SAR for a sliding or flat-pack wardrobe, 200 – 400 SAR for an aluminium kitchen and 400 – 900 SAR for a full apartment package. Storage is 150 – 300 SAR a month for one to two rooms, 250 – 450 SAR for an apartment-sized load and 400 – 800 SAR for a villa-sized load.

Two things push a gym quote up its band: stair-only access on an upper floor, and a large quantity of loose weight, which is slow to carry however strong the crew is. Both are assessed at the free survey and written into the price before work starts.

Reassembly and alignment

Putting a rig back so it is safe to load.

Reassembling fitness equipment is not the same as reassembling furniture, because the consequence of a wrong bolt is different. A rack that is out of square, or a bolt that is finger-tight because its washer went missing, is a safety problem the moment somebody loads it.

That is why fixings are bagged to their own member rather than tipped into a common box, why cable routing is photographed before release, and why uprights are checked for plumb before crossmembers are torqued. Where a manufacturer supplies a torque specification, we follow it; where a machine is under a service contract that requires an authorised technician, we move it and leave the recommissioning to them.

  • Rigs and racks set out and squared before anything is fully tightened.
  • Cables re-routed from the photographs taken before release, then run through their full travel before handover.
  • Treadmill decks checked for belt tracking after reassembly, with any adjustment left to the service technician if one is specified.
  • Loose weight returned to its own stand or rack rather than stacked on the floor.
  • Rubber flooring relaid in its original order so the seams line up as they did before.

Home gyms and villa fitness rooms

The smaller version of the same problem.

A home gym in a Jeddah villa is usually a single room with a rack, a bench, a treadmill and a quantity of loose weight. It looks like a trivial move and it is not, for one reason: it is almost always on a finished floor in a finished house, with no service route and no goods lift.

The things that make a home gym move go well are simple. Weight is carried in small quantities rather than heroic ones. The rack comes apart rather than going through the door at an angle. The route is boarded all the way from the room to the vehicle. And the new room is decided before the van arrives, not while a 100 kg frame is standing in a hallway.

If you are moving the whole house at the same time, say so at survey — the gym is scheduled first out and last in, because it needs the clearest route and the most floor protection. See local moving in Jeddah for how a full household move is sequenced.

What we need before quoting

Six answers that fix the price.

  • A list of machines by type, and roughly how much loose weight there is.
  • Floor level at both ends, and whether there is a lift — with its rated load if you can find the plate.
  • Door and stairwell widths on the route, including any turn.
  • Floor finish at both ends, so protection can be planned rather than improvised.
  • Whether any machine is under a service contract requiring an authorised technician.
  • Whether rubber flooring is moving with the equipment.

Gym equipment moving in Jeddah — frequently asked questions

What gym owners and home-gym users in Jeddah ask us before booking.

Only if the lift’s rated plate allows it and the machine fits the car, including diagonally. A single machine can approach a passenger lift’s rating while standing on a fraction of the floor, which is why we check the plate at survey rather than on the day.

Yes. Rigs, racks and cages are unbolted into uprights and crossmembers, with every bolt bagged and labelled to the member it came from. That is also what makes a safe, square reassembly possible at the other end.

Not if the route is protected, which is included rather than optional. Boards are laid along the whole route, machines are lifted rather than pivoted, and any unavoidable walking of a heavy frame happens on boards, not on the finish.

Folded and locked where the design allows, otherwise flat with the deck supported along its length. Consoles are detached where possible, wrapped separately and numbered to their base. A treadmill leaned on a corner is how a deck frame gets bent.

Our standard scale applies: 350 – 600 SAR for a single-room home gym, 500 – 900 SAR for a two-room fitness area, 800 – 1,400 SAR for a small studio, 1,200 – 1,900 SAR mid-size and 2,500 – 4,000 SAR for a full commercial gym. Dismantling and reassembly is priced separately.

Yes. Tiles and mats are lifted after the equipment is out, kept in laying order, and relaid in the same order at the new address so the seams line up as they did before.

No. We move them and reassemble the mechanical structure, but where a manufacturer or supplier requires an authorised technician for commissioning, we leave that to them and plan the day so the machines are in place for their visit.

Yes. Storage is 150 – 300 SAR a month for a one to two room load, 250 – 450 SAR for an apartment-sized load and 400 – 800 SAR for a villa-sized load. Equipment is stored dismantled, with fixings kept bagged to their own members.
