Furniture Moving to Dhahban, North Jeddah
Coastal plots well north of the city. We schedule outside peak hours, or at night in summer, so the road is shorter and the furniture stays cooler.
Dhahban is a journey, not a district hop
The distance is the variable that matters most here.
Dhahban lies north of Jeddah along the coast beyond North Obhur and falls within Jeddah governorate. Its built environment leans towards newer residential plans, rest houses and gated compounds rather than dense terraced blocks.
That means a Dhahban job is not a move within a neighbourhood. It is a move between two points separated by a real stretch of road, and travel time becomes a meaningful part of the working day instead of a rounding error.
In practice a move between central Jeddah and Dhahban means at least one round trip, and sometimes two if the contents do not fit a single truck. So we size the load carefully at survey stage, because an unbudgeted second trip is the single biggest reason a price moves after agreement.
- Coastal area north of North Obhur, within Jeddah governorate
- Newer plans, rest houses and compounds rather than dense blocks
- Travel time is a real part of the day, not a rounding error
- Load sizing at survey stage prevents an unplanned second trip
Off-peak and night moves to Dhahban
This section exists because the road itself is the main variable.
On the northern coastal roads, journey time multiplies at weekends and in the early evening, when heavy traffic heads north towards rest houses and chalets. Moving furniture in those hours adds an hour or more in each direction, and that hour is ultimately paid by the customer.
So for Dhahban we prefer one of two slots: a very early morning departure, or execution late at night. The night option matters especially in summer, because wooden and leather furniture does not sit inside a closed box under the sun for hours, and the crew works more efficiently in cooler air.
Night moves come with two conditions we hold to. There must be no long, noisy disassembly or assembly inside a residential compound at a late hour, and the destination must be lit well enough to assemble properly. If either fails, we load at night and assemble the following morning rather than risk poor assembly in bad light.
Early departure
Ahead of the heavy northbound traffic and the heat of the day.
Or a night run
A faster road and far less heat on wooden and leather pieces.
Noise condition
No long assembly work inside a compound at a late hour.
Light condition
If the destination is poorly lit, we assemble the next morning.
How distance is priced, and when it adds anything
The question every Dhahban customer asks first.
Our bands are the same across Jeddah and are set by the volume being moved, not by the name of the destination. Distance is not added as a separate hidden fee, but it can move the figure inside a band when a job turns from one trip into two.
The rule we explain plainly: as long as the contents fit one truck, the distance to Dhahban does not change the band. If a second trip is needed, the difference is the cost of that second trip, and it appears in the written quote before the work, not after.
That is also why we insist on a survey for Dhahban jobs more than for jobs inside the city. The survey is free, and it is the difference between a price that holds and a price that moves.
| Type of move | Price range | Operational note |
|---|---|---|
| Single items / small van (dabab) | SAR 80 – 250 | A few pieces or one room, no full disassembly |
| Studio or single room | SAR 350 – 600 | Bed and small wardrobe disassembly, basic wrapping |
| Two-bedroom apartment | SAR 500 – 900 | The most common booking in Jeddah |
| Three-bedroom apartment | SAR 800 – 1,400 | Larger crew, longer loading window |
| Four to five bedrooms | SAR 1,200 – 1,900 | Usually a full working day |
| Small villa | SAR 1,500 – 2,500 | Floor-to-floor movement and heavy disassembly |
| Large villa | SAR 2,500 – 4,000 | More than one truck and an extended crew |
These are the same bands used across Jeddah. What changes on a Dhahban job is the possibility of a second trip, which is settled at the free survey and written into the quote.
Rest houses and wide single-storey homes
A bigger crew, not a bigger truck.
In rest houses and wide ground-floor homes the items are scattered across a large footprint: a majlis at one end, a kitchen at the other, an outbuilding, and garden furniture. Walking between those points consumes more time than climbing four floors in an apartment block does.
The answer is not a bigger truck but a bigger crew working several points at once, with a single staging area near the exit where wrapped items are gathered before loading. That arrangement alone takes one to two hours out of a full day.
We also need to know in advance whether there is an outbuilding or appliances attached to it, because those are the pieces most easily forgotten at quoting stage and most likely to appear on the day.
Larger crew
Several work points at once instead of one long route.
Staging area
All wrapped items gathered near the exit before loading.
Full inventory
Outbuildings and garden furniture counted at survey, not on the day.
Disassembly and assembly
Separate line items, bookable alone.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Full bedroom set | SAR 150 – 300 |
| Sliding or IKEA wardrobe | SAR 100 – 250 |
| Aluminium kitchen | SAR 200 – 400 |
| Whole-apartment package | SAR 400 – 900 |
Distance makes a return visit expensive, so we prefer to complete disassembly and assembly in the same visit wherever possible.

Packing for a longer road
Every extra kilometre is extra vibration.
A longer journey means more time vibrating inside the box, and vibration is what cracks glass and scuffs wood. So for Dhahban we raise the packing standard by one level: double bubble wrap on glass and mirrors, and vertical strapping rather than simply stacking items side by side.
Drawers are emptied and taped shut from the outside so they cannot slide open with the vibration, and glass doors in wardrobes and display units are removed and wrapped separately rather than travelling fitted.
In summer especially we avoid leaving a loaded truck standing in the sun between loading and departure, because heat inside a closed box softens the glue in engineered wood.
- Double wrapping on glass and mirrors for longer journeys
- Vertical strapping rather than loose stacking
- Drawers emptied and taped shut
- Glass doors removed and wrapped separately
Before the crew sets off
Four confirmations we always ask for.
Because the journey is long, a missing detail costs more than it would inside the city. We confirm four points before fixing a time: whether the road to the destination door is passable for a truck, whether a gate or guard needs advance permission, whether electricity is connected so the crew can work and appliances can be tested, and whether there is an outbuilding or garden furniture that has not been mentioned.
Answering those four prevents the classic failure on a long job: a crew arriving and then waiting an hour at a closed gate, or discovering that assembly is impossible because the power is not on yet.
Truck-passable road
Confirmed to the door, not just to the entrance of the plan.
Gate permission
Arranged in advance where a guard or barrier controls access.
Power connected
Required for assembly and for testing appliances.
Storage when dates do not line up
Often cheaper than an extra round trip.
| Volume | Monthly storage |
|---|---|
| One to two rooms | SAR 150 – 300 per month |
| Full apartment contents | SAR 250 – 450 per month |
| Villa contents | SAR 400 – 800 per month |
Storage includes wrapping and stacking inside the warehouse. Transport to and from the warehouse is a separate move under the bands above.
Storage makes particular sense on Dhahban jobs, because an extra round trip to postpone by a day costs more than a short storage period. Details on furniture storage in Jeddah.

Dhahban moving questions
What people ask before booking a move north of the city.
The bands are the same and there is no separate distance fee. What can raise the cost is the need for a second trip, and that is stated in the written quote before the work.
Yes, and night is preferred in summer to avoid heat and peak traffic, provided there is no long noisy assembly inside a compound and the destination is well enough lit to assemble properly.
It depends on volume and timing. An early or night departure cuts the road time noticeably compared with peak hours.
Yes. A rest house needs a larger crew rather than a larger truck, because items are spread over a wide floor area.
It must be mentioned at survey stage to be counted. Leaving it out is the most common reason a figure differs on the day.
We raise the standard one level: double wrapping on glass and mirrors, vertical strapping, and drawers emptied and taped shut.
Yes, and that is our preference if assembly would otherwise happen in poor light or late at night inside a residential compound.
Yes. Full apartment contents are SAR 250 to 450 per month, usually cheaper than an extra round trip to postpone by a day.
Yes. The whole-apartment package is SAR 400 to 900 and a single bedroom set is SAR 150 to 300.
