Al Sarawat district

Furniture moving in Al Sarawat, Jeddah

An apartment district in south Jeddah where the heaviest part of the day is almost always the majlis: long Arabic seating, oversized side pieces and marble tables that do not fit an ordinary doorway.

Short answer: cost and timing in Al Sarawat

A two-bedroom flat starts at SAR 500 and is normally finished in one day; a three-bedroom flat starts at SAR 800. The item that moves the price here more than any other is the majlis. A full set can swallow half a truck and half a working day if it is treated as one object, or an hour if it is dismantled and wrapped properly. The survey is free and the price is handed over in writing before anything is loaded.

The district and what it means for a moving day

Field notes, not a copy of another district page.

Al Sarawat sits in south Jeddah among a cluster that includes Al Sanabil, Al Fadilah, Al Fayha, Al Thaghr, Abraq Al Rughama and Al Safwa. Housing is dominated by flats in mid-rise blocks, with a noticeable share of furnished units let on monthly terms. In practice this means a large portion of the moves here are not once-a-decade family relocations but repeat moves between one flat and another, often inside the same district.

A repeat mover behaves differently. They know their own furniture, and they want speed and a clear number more than they want a full-service package. So in this district we offer two explicit options: a complete move with dismantling, assembly and packing, or a transport-and-labour-only move for people who have already packed. The difference between the two is written into the quote rather than discovered on the day.

Majlis seating, large sofas and marble: this page in one section

The heaviest furniture in a Jeddah flat, and the most often damaged by haste.

1

Measure the long piece before the door

A long majlis bench usually exceeds the width of an internal doorway. We measure it first, then decide: angle it through, remove its cover, or take it out via the balcony.

2

Dismantle rather than force

Modern sofas separate into frame, legs and cushions. Forcing one down a narrow corridor splits the stitching at the corners and shears internal fixings, damage that only shows weeks later.

3

Wrap fabric, do not just bundle it

Velvet and embroidered upholstery attracts dust and suffers from abrasion. It gets a fabric cover first, then film, never adhesive tape touching the weave.

4

Marble and glass centre tables

The top always comes off the base and travels vertically between two foam boards. Marble carried flat on a truck bed cracks under its own weight at the first speed bump.

5

Large carpets

Rolled around a tube, never folded, because folding leaves permanent lines in the pile. Carpets load last and come off first, so they can be laid before any furniture enters.

6

Putting the majlis back

We photograph the room before dismantling and rebuild the same layout at the new address where space allows. Where it does not, we propose an alternative before fixing anything in place.

How a single-day move is sequenced here

A practical order that limits hours of truck standing time.

1

07:30 arrival and measuring

Doorways and stair turns measured, truck position agreed, floors and stairs covered.

2

08:00 majlis and bedrooms

We start with the two largest jobs in the home, because clearing them early makes the rest of the day predictable.

3

10:30 packing and loading

Kitchen and glassware are packed while large items are going down, so nobody waits on anybody.

4

12:30 transport and unloading

One trip where possible. Carpets come off first so they can be laid before the seating goes in.

5

14:00 assembly and handover

Bedrooms rebuilt, majlis reassembled, then the inventory is walked with you item by item.

Leaving a rented flat: what the landlord checks

Written for a district with a high share of rented units.

  • Air conditioners detached properly and wall openings closed, not ripped out and left open. See air conditioner removal and installation.
  • Wall anchors and mounted shelves removed and collected in one bag handed to the landlord.
  • No furniture dragged across floor tiles, since floor scratches are the most common reason a deposit is cut.
  • Empty cartons and debris taken away by the crew rather than left in the flat or outside the door.
  • The empty flat photographed once work is finished. That photo is your record if the handover condition is disputed.

Which truck size fits which load

The question asked most often in this district.

VehicleRoughly what it holdsWhen we choose it
Pickup / half truckA small majlis or a limited number of itemsA short move inside the district or a single-room flat
Medium closed DynaA two-bedroom flat with a medium majlisThe most common case in Al Sarawat
Large DynaA three-bedroom flat with a large majlis and carpetsFamily flats and long seating sets
Two vehicles or two tripsFour bedrooms or more, or two majlis setsLarger homes, or a move to a distant district

Indicative only, for planning the day. The final size is set at the free survey.

What lengthens a moving day is rarely the weight of the furniture; it is repeated trips. One trip in the right vehicle beats two in a small one, because every trip adds loading, unloading and road time. That is why we ask about the majlis first: in most homes here, it is the item that decides the truck.

Dismantling, packing and short storage

Standalone services with their own prices.

Dismantling and assembly jobPrice range (SAR)
Complete bedroom set150 – 300
Sliding wardrobe or IKEA wardrobe100 – 250
Aluminium kitchen200 – 400
Whole-flat dismantling and assembly package400 – 900

These figures apply when you book dismantling and assembly on its own, without transport.

The most frequent requests are assembling a bedroom set delivered flat-packed from a showroom, and taking a sliding wardrobe apart to move it between two flats in the same building.

Volume storedMonthly rent (SAR)
One to two rooms of contents150 – 300
A full flat250 – 450
A villa400 – 800

Monthly storage includes basic wrapping and a photographed inventory at intake.

Storage here is usually needed for one or two weeks between leases. Everything is wrapped before intake and photographed. See furniture storage in Jeddah and packing services.

Three things we will not do

Being clear beats accepting every request.

We refuse three things regardless of how urgent the job is. We will not cut fixed metal frames or screens instead of unbolting them, because nothing cut can be put back properly. We will not carry a marble tabletop flat on the truck bed, because the break risk is high and the piece cannot be repaired. And we will not stack velvet seating without separators, because the compression mark stays in the fabric. If one of these is requested anyway, we explain the alternative, and if the client still insists we note it in writing before starting so responsibility is clear on both sides.

Al Sarawat moving questions

What residents ask before booking.

SAR 500 to 900 depending on dismantling jobs, the size of the majlis and the floor. A move inside the district itself usually lands in the lower half of the range.

It is counted inside the volume estimate, not added as a surprise line. A large majlis genuinely raises total volume, so we ask how many pieces and how long they are at survey and reflect it in the written price.

Yes, and we prefer dismantling to forcing. Sofas separate into frame, legs and cushions, which protects the stitching and the internal fixings.

The top always comes off the base and travels upright between foam boards. Marble carried flat on the truck floor cracks under its own weight.

Yes: air conditioners detached properly, wall anchors and shelves removed and bagged, no dragging on tiles, and empty cartons taken away.

Yes. In this district we offer a transport-and-labour-only option for people who have already packed, and the difference is stated clearly in the quote.

Usually one working day, starting early with the majlis and bedrooms and finishing in the afternoon with assembly and the inventory walk.

No, they are rolled around a tube. Folding leaves permanent lines in the pile. Carpets come off the truck first so they can be laid before furniture enters.

Yes. Monthly storage starts at SAR 150 for one to two rooms of contents, and shorter periods can be agreed.

No. It is free, it commits you to nothing, and it ends with a written price you may accept or decline.
