Dental practice relocation

Dental Clinic Movers in Jeddah

A dental chair is not a chair. We move the practice and coordinate with your service engineer — we do not pretend to be one.

What it costs, and where our responsibility starts

Moving a dental clinic with one operatory, a sterilisation room and a reception runs SAR 800 to 1,400. A practice with three to five operatories runs SAR 1,200 to 1,900, and a larger multi-floor centre starts at SAR 1,500 and rises to SAR 2,500 and beyond with size. Those figures cover transport, loading, unloading and furniture assembly. They do not cover dismantling or recommissioning the dental equipment itself.

That distinction is the most important thing on this page. We do not disconnect or reinstall a dental unit. Separating the air, water, suction and electrical lines, and reconnecting and calibrating afterwards, is the work of the manufacturer-approved service engineer, not a moving company. What we do is coordinate with them: they disconnect, we carry and place, they reinstall and commission.

Why that line exists

Because blurring it is what causes most post-move faults.

A dental unit is connected to at least four services: compressed air, water, drainage or suction, and power. It is usually floor-fixed, and its lines may run under the tiling. Disconnecting it requires knowing the valve order and how to drain residual water from the lines before separation — otherwise water reaches electrical parts.

The usual attempt to save money, letting the movers take the chair apart, tends to end in a kinked air line, a broken fitting or moisture in a control board, and the repair costs several times what was saved. So we require the approved engineer to be present and we work under their direction.

This protects both sides. The practice keeps its equipment warranty intact, and we take responsibility for what we actually moved — the frame, the furniture and the boxes — rather than for something we never dismantled.

The main equipment and how it travels

Six items appear in nearly every dental practice.

🪑

The dental unit

The engineer splits it into base, arm, chair and control unit. We move each part wrapped separately. The base is heavy and needs a trolley and four people, and it is never dragged across a floor.

🌀

The compressor

Drained of air and condensate before it moves, and transported upright at all times, because tilting it carries oil into places it should not go.

🔌

The suction unit

Disconnected, cleaned and dried before loading, and bagged for transport. Residual fluid is a hygiene matter, not a cosmetic one.

♨️

The autoclave

Emptied of water and left to cool for hours before it moves. Upright, in its own carton where possible, with the door left slightly ajar rather than sealed.

☢️

X-ray equipment

Among the most sensitive items. The engineer removes it, it travels fully wrapped and braced, and reinstallation needs room preparation and the necessary approvals before use.

🧪

Laboratory equipment

Mixers, casting units and small furnaces: each in a foam-lined case with its lead in a bag labelled with the unit it belongs to.

Price table

The published rates, applied to practice size.

Size of the movePrice in SAR
Pickup / single items80 – 250
Studio or one room350 – 600
Two-bedroom apartment500 – 900
Three-bedroom apartment800 – 1,400
Four to five bedrooms1,200 – 1,900
Small villa1,500 – 2,500
Large villa2,500 – 4,000

A single-operatory practice with sterilisation and reception falls in the three-bedroom band; three operatories or more fall in the four-to-five band.

See general clinic relocation for the wider medical method and the cost calculator for a quick estimate.

The sterilisation room

The room that has to be ready before the first patient.

  • Sterile instruments stay in their sealed pouches and are never tipped into open boxes.
  • Metal trays and stands are wrapped against scratching, because scratches make later sterilisation harder.
  • Chemicals and disinfectants travel in separate boxes, upright, and never alongside fabric or paper.
  • Anything with an expiry date is sorted before the move; carrying expired stock wastes space and time.
  • The sink and wash unit are disconnected by a plumber, not by a loader.

Heat-sensitive materials

A point that is routinely overlooked in dental moves.

A proportion of dental consumables is heat sensitive. Some adhesives, composites and impression materials have a defined storage range and some need refrigeration. Jeddah in the hot months, inside a stationary truck body in the sun, is not a kind environment for any of them.

So those materials go into an insulated box with cool packs, load last and unload first, and travel in an air-conditioned vehicle when the quantity is small. It is also the main reason we push for an early morning start on clinic moves.

Material already past or near its expiry date does not travel. Sorting it two days before saves a whole box and spares you a re-sort in a space that is not yet organised.

Furniture, reception and patient records

The part we run end to end.

Clinic furniture — waiting room seating, the reception counter, file cabinets, desks and screens — is ours from start to finish: dismantling, wrapping, loading, unloading and reassembly. A built-in reception counter is dismantled with numbered panels, because reassembling it in a different order leaves visible gaps.

Patient records are treated exactly as we treat legal files: numbered boxes sealed with security tape, a delivery manifest that is checked and signed, and no box opened except in front of someone from the practice. Patient data privacy is not a detail.

Computers and practice management systems are disconnected after their cabling is photographed, and each unit travels with its leads in a bag labelled with the desk it came from.

Why the move happens at night or at the weekend

A clinic that closes for two days loses more than it saves.

1

Fix the last appointment

The plan is built around the last patient on the final day, not around a notional hour.

2

The engineer goes first

Disconnection starts once the last patient has left. It is the longest stage and the least amenable to being rushed.

3

Loading follows the disconnection

We start when the engineer gives the word: furniture and boxes first, then the dismantled equipment.

4

Unload by room

Every item is placed in its own room immediately, so nothing is carried twice inside the new clinic.

5

Reinstall and commission

The engineer refits, calibrates and tests while we complete the furniture assembly alongside.

6

Leave a buffer day

We always recommend a clear day between the end of installation and the first appointment.

Checking the new premises before you sign

Three things that otherwise turn a move into a construction project.

First, drainage and plumbing. Every operatory needs a drain and a water supply, and its position in the room is not entirely free. Before signing the lease, confirm that the drain positions allow the layout you want, or you are looking at lifted tiles and new runs.

Second, electrical capacity. The compressor, the X-ray unit and the autoclave are real loads and the building board must carry them on dedicated circuits. An electrician answers that in one visit, which is far cheaper than discovering it after the move.

Third, the X-ray room. If you are moving an X-ray unit, the room needs protective preparation and regulatory approval before use. Start that process early, because it is the one thing that cannot be accelerated on moving day. See office relocation for the general commercial checklist.

Dental clinic relocation questions

What dentists and practice managers ask us.

SAR 800 to 1,400 for a single-operatory practice and SAR 1,200 to 1,900 for three or more, after a free survey.

No. The approved service engineer does, and we carry and place it, then they reinstall and calibrate. This keeps the equipment warranty intact.

Yes, after it has been drained of air and condensate, and always upright, because tilting moves oil into the wrong places.

We transport it after the engineer removes and wraps it. Reinstallation needs room preparation and the relevant approvals.

Numbered boxes sealed with security tape and a signed delivery manifest, opened only in front of someone from the practice.

They go in an insulated box with cool packs, load last and unload first, and we start the move early in the morning.

Usually one, if the move runs after the last appointment at the end of the week. We recommend one further clear day before seeing patients.

Yes, drained and cooled, upright, with the door left slightly ajar rather than sealed.

Yes, with numbered panels so it reassembles in the original order, and the price includes refitting.

Yes, by visit or WhatsApp video, and the written price does not change after loading.

Relocate your practice over one weekend

Send the number of operatories, whether there is an X-ray unit and your service engineer’s contact, and we will plan the whole move.
