One-day versus two-day moving in Jeddah
The working rule in Jeddah: a two-bedroom flat on a floor with a lift is moved and reassembled in one day. Three bedrooms will fit into one day given an early start and enough crew. Four bedrooms or more, a villa, or a fourth floor with no lift make two days a necessity rather than a luxury, because the alternative is furniture that arrives but is only half rebuilt. Duration is not set by volume alone. Three things set it: volume, access, and whether the new place is actually ready.
The three factors that set the duration
It is not simply a question of how many rooms you have.
Most people count bedrooms. In practice a two-bedroom flat on a fifth floor with no lift can take longer than four bedrooms at ground level. Only three variables really decide it.
- Volume: the number of large pieces needing dismantling, not the room count on paper.
- Access: the floor, whether the lift takes large pieces, and the stair and corridor widths at both ends.
- Readiness: is the new unit empty, clean and available, or is there still work or a tenant in it?
If one of those is negative, a single day becomes a gamble. If two are negative, two days is the only realistic answer.
Realistic timings by home size
Approximate figures drawn from actual jobs, not promises.
| Home size | Access | Realistic duration |
|---|---|---|
| Studio or one room | Floor with a lift | Half a day |
| Studio or one room | High floor, no lift | A full day |
| Two-bedroom flat | Floor with a lift | One day |
| Two-bedroom flat | No lift | One long day |
| Three-bedroom flat | Floor with a lift | One day with an early start |
| Three-bedroom flat | No lift | Two days |
| Four to five bedrooms | Any access | Two days |
| Villa | Any access | Two to three days |
Durations cover dismantling, wrapping, loading, transport, unloading and basic reassembly. They do not include cleaning or arranging small possessions.
We give you an hours estimate at the survey rather than on the first call, because phone estimates are always optimistic.
What a single day actually looks like
The real hour distribution for a two-bedroom flat.
7 to 9am
Crew arrives, entrances and corners are sheeted, bedrooms and wardrobes come apart.
9 to 11am
Glass, mattresses and appliances are wrapped, and the kitchen is packed, which is the longest single task in any flat.
11am to 1pm
Loading in a fixed order: heavy at the bottom, glass upright, rugs on top.
1 to 2pm
Transport to the new address, varying with distance and traffic.
2 to 6pm
Unloading and reassembly: bedrooms first, then the kitchen, then the living room.
Notice that loading takes only about a third of the time. Dismantling, packing and reassembly take the other two thirds, which is why packing your own small items in advance saves more than you would expect.
What the second day actually buys you
Not more moving time, but time to rebuild properly.
When we recommend two days, the usual split is dismantling, wrapping, loading and transport on day one, and unloading and full reassembly on day two. That split solves the most common failure of a compressed move: everything arrives in the evening, half of it gets rebuilt, and the rest sits stacked in the living room for a week.
- Full reassembly of bedrooms and kitchens instead of leaving half of it for later.
- Time to inspect pieces after unloading and record anything immediately rather than days later.
- A sensible distribution of boxes into their own rooms instead of a single pile.
- A safety margin if the new unit is handed over late or the lift fails.
Two days is not double the cost, because the transport itself still happens once. What extends is the crew time spent rebuilding.
How price differs between the two
The gap is smaller than most people imagine.
| Move size | Price range (SAR) |
|---|---|
| Pickup / few items | 80 – 250 |
| Studio or single room | 350 – 600 |
| Two-bedroom apartment | 500 – 900 |
| Three-bedroom apartment | 800 – 1,400 |
| Four to five bedrooms | 1,200 – 1,900 |
| Small villa | 1,500 – 2,500 |
| Large villa | 2,500 – 4,000 |
Ranges depend on volume, floor level, distance and lift access. The survey is free and the price is written down before work starts.
Our price is built on volume, floor level, distance and lift access, not on the number of days. A home that needs two days is a large home to begin with, and its price sits in the upper part of the table for that reason, not because we bill two separate days. See furniture moving prices.
When insisting on one day is the wrong call
The signs are visible before booking, not after.
There are cases where forcing a single day costs more than two days would, because the result is an incomplete rebuild or damage caused by rushing.
- A fourth floor or higher with no lift at one or both addresses.
- An aluminium kitchen that needs full dismantling and refitting the same day.
- More than three complete bedrooms needing dismantling and reassembly.
- Handover of the new unit on the same day as the clearance, with no margin.
- A move that includes a store room, a yard or garden furniture that was never estimated.
In those cases we say plainly that one day is unrealistic, because a promise that cannot be kept hurts you before it hurts us.
Dismantling and reassembly eat the time
Not the loading, as most people assume.
| Service | Price range (SAR) |
|---|---|
| Bedroom set dismantle and reassemble | 150 – 300 |
| Sliding or IKEA wardrobe | 100 – 250 |
| Aluminium kitchen | 200 – 400 |
| Full apartment package | 400 – 900 |
Covers dismantling, protective wrapping and reassembly at the new address.
A single bedroom set can take an hour to dismantle and an hour and a half to rebuild, and an aluminium kitchen takes longer still. The number of pieces needing dismantling is therefore a far better predictor of days than the number of boxes. See disassembly and assembly.
How distance across Jeddah affects the day count
The road consumes more time than people allow for.
A move between two adjoining districts in north Jeddah costs minutes. A move from the far north to the far south or east can cost an hour each way. With two or three runs, the road alone becomes half a working day.
- A local move between neighbouring districts: the road does not affect the day count at all.
- A cross-city move in a single load: adds roughly two hours to the day.
- A cross-city move needing two or more runs: pushes the plan straight to two days.
- An intercity move: always planned as two days, one to load and travel, one to unload and rebuild.
That is why we ask about both addresses before asking how many rooms you have.
Crew size and why it matters
Days and people are two sides of the same equation.
Two days can sometimes become one by adding people rather than time, but it does not work in every case. A larger crew speeds loading and unloading, yet it will not speed up dismantling one aluminium kitchen, because five people cannot work on the same panel.
- Loading and unloading: scale almost directly with crew size.
- Dismantling and reassembly: scale up to a point, then stop improving.
- Narrow corridors and small lifts: gain nothing from extra people, since passage is single file.
- Careful packing of glass and crockery: depends on skill, not headcount.
We size the crew at the survey against what can genuinely be accelerated, rather than what looks faster in theory.
How to shorten the job yourself
Four steps that visibly bring the finishing time forward.
A large share of the day goes on things you can do beforehand at no cost. Customers who do them usually save two to three hours.
Pack small items in advance
Clothes, books, tools and possessions in sealed boxes labelled with the destination room.
Disconnect appliances early
Empty and unplug the fridge well before the slot, and drain and brace the washing machine.
Let go of the surplus
Anything unused for a year costs you time and money to move, and the decision is easier before the move than after.
Prepare the access
Parking at both entrances, the new keys in hand, and the building caretaker told about the time.
The moving checklist sets out the full preparation.
Storage as an alternative to the second day
A middle path in specific situations.
Sometimes the constraint is not the duration but the readiness of the new unit. In that case we move everything in one day into storage, then deliver in stages once the unit is ready.
| Storage volume | Monthly rate (SAR) |
|---|---|
| One to two rooms | 150 – 300 |
| Full apartment | 250 – 450 |
| Villa | 400 – 800 |
Storage is billed monthly and includes inventory and wrapping before intake.
That arrangement suits people downsizing or waiting on work to finish at the new address. See furniture storage in Jeddah.
How we set your duration before you book
Four clear steps.
- Send photos of every room plus the store room and balcony, not just the bedrooms, on WhatsApp.
- Tell us the floor and lift situation at both ends, and the lift door width if you can.
- You get a free survey with a written estimate of volume, hours and day count.
- We confirm the slot and start early, because an early start is the cheapest way to save a whole day.
If your move is short and local, short-distance moving explains the differences, and same-day moving covers urgent dates.
Frequently asked questions
Usually yes, if it is on a floor with a lift and loading starts in the morning. That covers dismantling, wrapping, transport and basic reassembly.
With four bedrooms or more, a villa, a fourth floor or higher with no lift, or an aluminium kitchen needing full dismantling and refitting.
No. Price is built on volume, floor level, distance and lift access, not day count, and the transport itself still happens once.
Dismantling, packing and reassembly. Loading takes only about a third of the time in an average flat.
Pack small items in advance, disconnect appliances early, let go of the surplus, and arrange parking and the new keys beforehand.
No. It covers dismantling, wrapping, transport, unloading and basic reassembly. Arranging possessions inside cupboards is separate work.
We move everything in one day into storage and deliver in stages. Storage is monthly from SAR 150 for one to two rooms.
A great deal. Starting at seven rather than ten gains three hours in the coolest and least congested part of the day.
Yes, and we ask for photos of them specifically, because they are the most forgotten spaces and the most likely to add half a day.
