Furniture Moving in Al Safwa, Jeddah
A local crew that knows Al Safwa's newer blocks and unpaved side streets. Free survey, written price before loading, closed truck, full disassembly and assembly.
What Al Safwa is actually like on moving day
Knowing the district matters more than knowing the address.
Al Safwa sits in northern Jeddah, listed by Saudi property portals under the north-Jeddah zone alongside neighbours such as Al Furusiyah and Abraq Al Rughama. Wadi Shukail Street is one of its known roads, and the housing mix runs from residential blocks to larger ground-floor homes and rest houses, with parts of the layout still under construction.
That mix is why a move here behaves differently from a move in an older, finished district. In a finished district the problem is a narrow street and parked neighbours. In Al Safwa the problem is usually the opposite: distance between the entrance and the nearest place a truck can safely stand, loose sand on parts of the plan, and buildings whose floors were handed over only weeks ago.
So before quoting we ask three things, in this order: which floor and is there a lift, how far is the closest firm standing point from the building door, and are we emptying an apartment or a wide single-storey home. Those three answers move the price inside a band far more than the room count does.
- Northern Jeddah, next to Al Furusiyah and Abraq Al Rughama
- Newer apartment blocks plus wider ground-floor homes
- Parts of the layout still unpaved and under construction
- Floor, lift, truck-standing distance and property type decide the day
Unpaved streets and new plots: where the truck stands
This section exists because most finished Jeddah districts never face it.
On plots that are not yet asphalted, the first risk to your furniture is not breakage. It is sand. Fine sand works into the joints of engineered wood and into drawer runners, and the grinding shows up weeks later as a drawer that no longer closes cleanly. That is why we wrap exposed wooden pieces fully inside the apartment, before they leave the door, rather than at the truck.
The second risk is where the truck stands. A loaded truck cannot drive onto soft sand without sinking, and recovering it is an expensive afternoon. In Al Safwa we park on the nearest firm, paved surface and carry the short distance on wide-wheel trolleys or by hand, and that distance is priced into the written quote from the start rather than appearing as a surprise on the day.
The third point is simple and often ignored: uneven ground is not a safe place to rest heavy items. We do not set wardrobes or fridges down on sand at all. They go hand to truck bed directly, or onto timber boards we lay out beforehand.
Dust before damage
Wooden pieces are wrapped inside the flat, not at the truck.
Firm ground only
We park on the nearest paved surface and price the carry distance upfront.
Timber boards
Nothing heavy is set down directly on uneven ground.
Short moves inside Al Safwa, and when they cost less
Moving one building over is priced differently from moving across the city.
A large share of Al Safwa bookings are not moves to another district at all. They are moves within it: a bigger flat in the next block, or a high floor down to a ground floor. In that case distance is almost irrelevant, and the entire cost sits in disassembly, carrying and reassembly.
So we offer two clear options. A full move priced on the usual apartment band when the contents are complete and need full disassembly, or a limited move priced closer to the small-van band when only a few pieces are involved and nothing needs taking apart.
The practical benefit of a short move is that it can be split across two sessions in one day, so the old flat stays livable until evening. That is rarely possible on a cross-city move, because the truck leaves and does not come back.
- Full move: standard apartment band with disassembly and assembly
- Limited move: closer to the small-van band, no full disassembly
- Possible to split across two sessions in a single day

Moving prices in Al Safwa
These are our standard bands, confirmed in writing after a free survey.
| Type of move | Price range | Operational note |
|---|---|---|
| Single items / small van (dabab) | SAR 80 – 250 | A few pieces or one room, no full disassembly |
| Studio or single room | SAR 350 – 600 | Bed and small wardrobe disassembly, basic wrapping |
| Two-bedroom apartment | SAR 500 – 900 | The most common booking in Jeddah |
| Three-bedroom apartment | SAR 800 – 1,400 | Larger crew, longer loading window |
| Four to five bedrooms | SAR 1,200 – 1,900 | Usually a full working day |
| Small villa | SAR 1,500 – 2,500 | Floor-to-floor movement and heavy disassembly |
| Large villa | SAR 2,500 – 4,000 | More than one truck and an extended crew |
Where you land inside a band depends on the floor, the lift, how far the truck must stand from the door, and how much disassembly is needed. The survey is free and the price is written down before any work begins.
There is no Al Safwa surcharge. What can push the figure up inside a band is the truck-standing distance, not the district name.
Disassembly and assembly
Priced separately so you can book it on its own.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Full bedroom set | SAR 150 – 300 |
| Sliding or IKEA wardrobe | SAR 100 – 250 |
| Aluminium kitchen | SAR 200 – 400 |
| Whole-apartment package | SAR 400 – 900 |
Sliding wardrobes and IKEA units specifically need a technician who works with them regularly; opening them with the wrong tool is the single most common cause of damaged panels.
Plenty of Al Safwa residents move themselves and book only the technical work, which is perfectly fine. Air conditioners are a separate service with separate technicians, covered on our disassembly and assembly page.
What to do the day before
Four small steps that genuinely shorten the day.
Keys in hand
Make sure you hold the keys to the new place before loading, not after.
Small items boxed
Loose small items eat more crew time than furniture does.
Unplug the fridge
Several hours ahead so the gas settles and it is not switched on immediately on arrival.
Clear the exit route
Move rugs and chairs out of the carrying path before the crew arrives.
Packing and protecting new finishes
Most Al Safwa buildings have floors only a season or two old.
Floor protection is not a luxury in a new building. A scratch on the stair tiles or the marble at the entrance turns into a dispute with the owner or the building committee. We lay heavy cloth or stiff cardboard along the full exit route, from the flat door to the building door, before the first item is carried.
Within the packing itself we work in three categories. Glass and mirrors get bubble wrap, then cardboard, and travel standing upright rather than flat. Wood gets blankets and straps. Soft furnishings go into plastic bags against dust. That order prevents the most common damage of all, which is glass scratched by the corner of a wooden panel inside the truck.
If the new place has not been finally handed over, we leave items wrapped rather than unwrapping them, because re-wrapping later costs more than leaving it alone.
- Exit route covered before the first item moves
- Glass and mirrors travel upright, never flat
- Blankets and straps for wood, bags for soft furnishings
- Boxes labelled by destination room to speed up unpacking
Short-term storage for Al Safwa residents
For when the handover date and the move-out date do not line up.
| Volume | Monthly storage |
|---|---|
| One to two rooms | SAR 150 – 300 per month |
| Full apartment contents | SAR 250 – 450 per month |
| Villa contents | SAR 400 – 800 per month |
Storage includes wrapping and stacking inside the warehouse. Transport to and from the warehouse is charged as a separate move under the bands above.
On newer plots the most common reason for storage is a handover running two or three weeks late. A single month of storage is far cheaper than renting temporary accommodation. Details on our furniture storage page.
What raises the price here, and what does not
Full transparency, because vague line items are a real problem in this market.
Many people assume distance from the city centre is what inflates a moving bill. Within Jeddah it rarely is. Four things genuinely raise it: a high floor with no lift, a long carry between the truck and the door, the volume of disassembly and reassembly, and a high density of glass and fragile pieces needing extra protection.
Four things do not raise it: the district name, an ordinary weekday, the number of floors at the destination if the lift works, and the fact that you called on short notice.
Our working rule is that every line that increases a quote must be explainable in one sentence. If we cannot explain it in one sentence, it does not belong in the quote.
- Raises it: high floor without lift, long carry, heavy disassembly, dense glass
- Does not raise it: district name, ordinary weekday, working lift at destination
- Every line in the quote is explainable in one sentence

Al Safwa moving questions
Straight answers to what people actually ask before booking.
The two-bedroom band is SAR 500 to 900. Where you land inside it depends on the floor, the lift, how far the truck must stand and how much disassembly is needed.
No. A loaded truck sinks into soft sand. We park on the nearest paved surface and carry the short distance, and that distance is priced into the quote from the start.
Yes. The whole-apartment package is SAR 400 to 900 and a single bedroom set is SAR 150 to 300.
Shorter than a cross-city move, because travel time is almost nil and all the time goes into disassembly, carrying and reassembly. It can often be split across two sessions in one day.
No. There is no district surcharge. What can raise the figure is the carry distance between the truck and your door.
We lay heavy cloth or stiff cardboard along the full exit route before the first item is carried, and nothing heavy is set down directly on the floor.
Yes. A wide single-storey property usually needs a larger crew because items are spread over a big floor area, and that is accounted for in the survey.
Pricing is monthly, but shorter periods can be agreed. Full apartment contents are SAR 250 to 450 per month.
Basic protection for glass, mirrors and wood is included. Full boxing of every small item is priced by volume and stated in the quote.
Send photos of each room on WhatsApp or book a free survey, and you receive a written price with the band and the line items before any work starts.
