Wththab Jeddah - furniture moving and storage

Coworking and Startup Office Movers in Jeddah

A startup usually moves because it has grown, and the move itself is the last thing the team wants to lose a week to. The furniture is different from a traditional office: long bench desks, a lot of good chairs, acoustic meeting pods, screens and personal lockers. We move it across a single weekend so the team starts Sunday in the new space, with a price written down after a free survey.

Why a startup office moves over one weekend

The basic difference between a startup office and a traditional one is that the first runs entirely on laptops and connectivity. Its downtime is therefore tied to the internet rather than to the furniture, and the furniture can travel over two days while the team works from home.

So the plan we recommend is straightforward: everything moves Thursday and Friday, the internet is live in the new space several days earlier, and the team starts Sunday in the new office. Two days of remote work is far cheaper than a week of disruption.

There is one condition for this to work: the new space has to be genuinely ready — power, internet, air conditioning and cleaning — before the first item arrives. Moving into a half-finished space is what turns two days into two weeks.

  • Activate the internet in the new space a week ahead and test it for real.
  • Pick a weekend rather than a midweek date.
  • Confirm power and air conditioning are working before you schedule the move.

Bench desks and shared workstations

The long bench desk seating four or six people is the backbone of these offices, and it is also the item that will not fit most lifts intact. The top is long and the frame is heavy steel, and the answer is always to take it apart.

We separate the top from the frame, number each top with the number of its own frame, and bag the bolts taped to that frame. Long timber tops are foam-wrapped, then blanket-wrapped, and carried upright on edge rather than flat, because a long flat top bows under its own weight if anything rests on it.

Cable trays fixed under the desks come off with them and are kept numbered. Re-running cable management from scratch in the new office is a full day of work; refitting it ready-made is an hour.

Acoustic pods and meeting booths

The freestanding acoustic pod has become a common item in coworking spaces, and it is heavier and more delicate than it looks: the walls are dense acoustic panels, and it contains glass, ventilation, lighting and power.

The pod comes apart into its panels in the reverse order of assembly, with each panel numbered and its position photographed before anything is removed. Glass panels are separated, wrapped and carried upright. The ventilation and lighting units come out and are wrapped separately, because they are what fails if they stay mounted to a panel being carried.

Reassembly needs a level floor. If the new office floor is not level, gaps open at the corners and the acoustic seal stops working. We check level before assembly rather than after.

Network gear, servers and team devices

Even a company running entirely on cloud services normally has a small network cabinet: a router, a switch, access points and perhaps a network drive. That cabinet is the first thing installed in the new office and the last thing removed from the old one.

Before anything is disconnected: a full backup and a photograph of every cable in its port. The photograph saves whoever rebuilds it hours of guesswork, and the backup is what makes any failure on power-up an inconvenience rather than a disaster.

Personal laptops are best carried by their owners rather than loaded into the truck. It is faster, safer and settles the question of responsibility entirely. Monitors are crated separately and carried upright in padded boxes.

Sunday

The seating plan comes before the move

The single biggest difference between an organised startup move and a chaotic one is an agreed seating plan drawn up before moving day. Without it, furniture goes wherever it fits and then gets moved again once or twice during the first week.

We ask for a simple plan — hand-drawn is fine — showing where each desk, pod and cabinet goes and the number of each seat. We number the personal boxes with the seat numbers, so on Sunday every person finds their own box waiting on their own desk.

The plan does something else useful: it reveals early that the existing furniture does not fit the new space, or that there is more room than expected. Discovering that on paper is much cheaper than discovering it with a truck parked outside.

  • Draw the seating plan before the move and circulate it to the team.
  • Number personal boxes by seat number, not only by name.
  • Check the desk count actually fits the new floor area before moving day.

Shared kitchen and common area equipment

Coworking spaces always have a shared corner: a coffee machine, a small fridge, a microwave, a water cooler and sometimes a games table. These are small items in large numbers, and they are easy to forget or break precisely because nobody feels personally responsible for them.

We treat them as a category with one named owner from the team. The coffee machine is drained and cleaned before the move; the small fridge is disconnected, dried, carried upright and left standing before being switched on, exactly like a full-sized one.

Games tables — pool or table tennis — always come apart. Trying to move one whole through a lift or stairwell is a common cause of scuffed walls and broken edges.

  • Appoint one person responsible for the shared corner contents.
  • Drain the coffee machine and water cooler before the move.
  • Dismantle games tables rather than trying to carry them whole.

Handing back the old space without deductions

Startups generally rent, and the lease will say something about the condition the space is returned in. What usually happens is that the team moves out and leaves wall fixings, cable trays and mounted shelves behind, and a deduction appears against the deposit that nobody budgeted for.

We remove what we installed and return the wall to a condition that can be made good: fixings and screws out, larger holes filled. Final painting is a contractor job rather than a removals one, but handing back a wall with filled holes is a very different proposition from handing back one covered in brackets.

Photograph the old space immediately after it is emptied and before the keys are returned. Those photographs are your only evidence if the landlord later disputes the condition, and they take five minutes.

  • Agree fixing removal and hole filling with us as part of the plan.
  • Photograph every room after emptying and before handing back the keys.
  • Read the condition clause in the lease before the move rather than after.

Deciding what not to take

A company that has grown usually leaves behind furniture that no longer suits it: old chairs, small tables, surplus cabinets. Moving them means paying to transport them and then paying for the space they occupy doing nothing.

A week before the survey, sort the furniture into three categories: moving, selling or donating, storing temporarily. Making that decision on paper before the move reduces the volume and therefore the invoice directly, because the price is driven by volume.

And whatever you decide to store, store it with a clear intention. If you have not used something within six months you probably never will, and the storage rent by then exceeds what the item is worth.

  • Sort furniture into three categories a week before the survey.
  • Price the move of each large item before deciding to keep it.
  • Only store what you have a clear plan to use again.
